Annual Memorial Day Shabbat at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue – May 24th

The National Museum of American Jewish Military History, Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. and 6th & I Historic Synagogue will hold the Annual National Shabbat Service honoring the Jewish Fallen Heroes of Iraq and Afghanistan. On this Memorial Day weekend, and hopefully countless Memorial Day weekends thereafter, we are also asking all of the synagogues throughout our nation and all Jewish organizations to read the names of these Fallen Heroes in memorial.

The National Museum of American Jewish Military History presently lists 58 identified Jewish service people who have given their lives in defense of our country in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On this Memorial Day weekend, and hopefully countless Memorial Day weekends thereafter, we are asking all of the synagogues Jewish organizations throughout our nation to read the names of these Fallen Heroes in memorial. Please present this list of the Fallen Heroes to your Rabbi, Executive Director, or Organizational President and ask him or her to read it with reverence on this coming Memorial Day weekend. In remembering the names of our fallen brothers and sisters, we succeed in honoring their memories in perpetuity.

Our Annual National Memorial Day Shabbat Service will be held at 6th and I Historic Synagogue on Friday, May 24, 2019. Join us for a Carlebach-inspired service led by Chazzan Larry Paul and musician Robyn Helzner, followed by dinner and Shabbat singing.
