A Mother’s Grief

grief01A Mother’s Grief deals with the pain and suffering experienced by the thousands of American mothers who have lost their sons (and daughters) to the horrors of war. Sanford L. Kahn, of Kearny, New Jersey, was killed in Normandy on July 11, 1944 at the age of nineteen.

The story of his life, death, and family’s grief is told through photographs, letters, and artifacts preserved by his mother, Mrs. Aaron (Minna) Kahn and donated by his sister, Brunette Kahn Mallon. The collection contains an extremely rich source of material documenting Sanford Kahn’s brief life, the close ties that he retained with his family, and his mother’s love.
